What's 'Pneu' with Pneumonia?

Registration will begin at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm.  Note that the start time is 6 pm (30 minutes earlier than usual). There will be 2 presentations for the evening. Theravance presentation will begin at 6:30pm with dinner, followed by Dr. Carroll’s presentation for CE.

“Treatment options for adult patients with hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia” will be presented by Mobolaji Ogunsakin, MD, Infections Specialists of Middle Georgia,  Navicent Health, Macon, Ga.

“What’s pneu with Pneumonia?  IDSA Guideline Update” will be presented by Victoria Carroll, PharmD, BCPS, Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacist at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

PROGRAM GOAL: The goal of this knowledge-based activity is to review the updated 2016 IDSA guidelines on the management of hospital-acquired (HAP) and ventilator-associated (VAP) pneumonia.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • Discuss the major changes in the 2016 IDSA/ATS HAP and VAP guidelines
  • Outline empiric antibiotic treatment options for HAP/VAP
  • Identify the optimal duration of antibiotic therapy
  • Define how to develop a HAP/VAP clinical practice guideline
  • Discuss the major changes in the 2016 IDSA/ATS HAP and VAP guidelines
